UNborify
I don’t care if you sell Cadillacs or widgets – UNborify.
Here are some ideas on how to do this… for you OR your business:
Delete “Business Casual Fridays” and start doing “Taco Tuesday’s” where everyone dresses like a Taco instead.
Sell your car – ride a bike to work instead.
Take the day off just because it’s a nice day outside and you know you shouldn’t be stuck inside an office.
Get a coloring book and start coloring again (even if you don’t have a kid).
Try working 4 days a week instead of 5. Do this for one month. Then compare which works best (for the company AND for yourself).
Do a “Mad Lib” at the beginning of your next meeting. The funniest “Mad Lib” gets to leave the meeting and go home early (which everyone votes on).
Have a day where everyone does their bosses job. Then, if you do it better than they do… you get to keep it (and they get your sucky one).
Spend an hour (at least one day a week) telling all of your co-workers EXACTLY how you feel about them. Then reverse it – they get to tell you exactly how THEY feel.
Of course those are just a few ways to UNborify you or your business. Anything else YOU want to add?

Dear Jared,
LOL!
Your tips to unborify your job are quite humorous:)
Probably not helpful in employees keeping a current job, but none the less…unborifying:)
fortunately, since I am self-employed, I have the most job security if I were to try these unborifying strategies:)
find reasons to laugh all day hehe
Hey Elisabeth, thanks so much. I try to shoot some humor into things and get people to think outside the box as much as I can. We’re always so serious (which I’m also guilty of at times). How GREAT is being self employed? If you don’t like it, you can always fire yourself. LOL.
You can’t beat shaking things up sometimes.
There’s nothing worse than a stale repetitive work environment. Unborify up that bad boy!
Works for life general too though
Absolutely Ben. Thanks for adding that. Now that I think of it… who invented “the cubicle” anyway… and WHY are so many people stuck inside of one?
Use twitter for all office communication.
Nice… Great suggestion. If you can communicate in as few words as possible (in that type of setting), it’s probably the best way.
