Things To Cleanse Yourself Of
1 – The credit cards.
Listen you really don’t need things you can’t afford to pay cash with – that’s sooo 2009!
Excluding a home mortgage that is 25% of your TAKE HOME pay (thanks to www.daveramsey.com)… tell the banks to go to hell!
2 – Your car payment.
Watch this video break it down.
Me personally? I’ve been riding a motorcycle the past year (paid cash). It’s served me well because I really don’t really need a car – at least for now.
I get about 65mpg and sometimes even get change from my $6 I use to fill it up.
What about insurance? It’s $100 for the year. How about meter parking? $0. How? I park it in any garage – and I’ve never been charged.
Not only that, I save a TREMENDOUS amount of time on finding parking and avoiding traffic.
But if you can’t do the motorcycle. That’s fine. Chuck the car payment though (and watch the video above).
Stuck in a fleece? Ooops I meant “lease.” Have someone take it over.
3 – Your boss.
I think more people have become so fed up with the economy that people are becoming their own boss (out of necessity).
“Would you REALLY need ‘great benefits’ if the job you worked didn’t make you sick?”
Think of it this way. No more sitting in boring meetings to discuss when the next meeting is.
4 – Your morning coffee.
As many of you may or may not know, I’ve been an avid Green Tea drinker for the past 5 years. Since I used to live in café’s, this was an easy thing to do.
Not only that, you’ll feel ten times better.
5 – Stress.
See my last blog.
6 – Being surrounded by miserable people.
For a TON of people out there, not much else can go wrong in 2010 (than in 2009). But listen, you don’t have to be drowning in misery with everyone else.
Let the miserable people take someone else down besides you… and new opportunities will magically come your way. Don’t and you’ll continue on the same path they’re on.
“Take a look at all of your close friends. That is where you will be in the next five years.”
7 – Conventional thinking.
Why… because it’s boring and WAY overrated. Not only that, it’s too normal.
And if you’re already reading this… “normal” is pretty much insanity. Isn’t it?
8 – Temp Agencies
A few years back I signed up for a temp agency that gave me 3 hours worth of testing (of which I scored an “A” on each one – typing speed is up to 70 wpm).
Long story short, I continue to get a kick out of calling their number YEARS later when I’m bored. Why?
They say, “Ok I’ll put you on the list.” It’s been that way for the past 2 years. I’ve got nothing but a story to share from them.
Is it sad? Yep. Want to try it for yourself to see what they say?
Call 818.247.2991 (Apple One).
Let me know what happens when you call (and PLEASE don’t fall for that 3 hour test – it’s honestly a waste of your time).
Oh and if they say, “It’s a great foot in the door…” Your response should be:
“If it’s SUCH a great ‘foot in the door’ then why don’t you take it.”
Think about it.
9 – People who really want your help but don’t listen to it.
Are you with me? How many people have asked for your help and when you give it to them you say, “Why did I just waste my time with these people?”
You don’t need the aggravation in 2010. Let it go.
10 – Casual Fridays
Who even started something like that? What’s so special about “Friday” anyway?
How about UNcasual Fridays? Thick Head Thursdays? Whacky Wednesdays?
You could even do Taco Tuesdays (where you dress up like a Taco). Miserable Mondays (where everyone walks around miserable – wait that already happens).
So there you go… that’s my last blog of 2009. Thanks to all my readers like you, it’s been a REALLY great and interesting ride this year.
Believe it or not, since starting this blog AND with your help, I’ve been able to reach well over 15,000 people in over 109 countries around the world – since June of this year (old blog results – new blog results).
Thanks again to everyone whose been an avid reader. Have a great new year.
Oh… and one more thing. If I missed anything that you like to see in this list, please make sure to leave a comment. I’d LOVE to hear what you think and add a few more things I might of overlooked (and something you feel that many people might need to hear).
