Sometimes There Are No Short Cuts

Often times, in the business world and as individuals we look for short cuts.  Wanting to jump in early on the next fad that helps achieve the things we want, quicker… faster… sometimes there just aren’t any ways to speed up the process.

I just realized this with some fitness goals of mine – as I’ve been visiting some family over the next few weeks.

In short, I was a lot more out of shape than I thought.  Disappointed, it only took about 2 weeks to get on track.

The thing is, I tried substitutes for what was already working.  Three days of intense interval training (running on the treadmill for twenty minutes), 3 days of weights… now turned into three days on the bike and 3 days of weights.

Knowing what it takes to get and keep my original physical transformation almost 10 years ago… I’ve realized that the best cardio training for cutting fat is running.  No if, ands or buts!

But much like you, I knew that – I just thought their might of been an easier way (one that’s a lot less painful).

Unfortunately, there was no short cut to what I wanted.  Honestly, this sucked!  But also, it’s an important lesson to learn.

In our personal and professional lives, sometimes we get so caught up in short cuts, thinking that some new book, training class, or self improvement guru is going to help us get to where we want to faster… and with much less pain.

There are certainly times when this is true, but a lot of times… it’s just continuing to do what you know you should be doing – persisting through the gut wrenching turns life throws at us.

“The fastest way to get rich quick, is to NOT get rich quick.” – Dave Ramsey.
