Forget The New Years Resolution
A “revolution” is started when one person says to themselves “enough is enough.” It’s not a “resolution” where someone resolves to get in shape… quits smoking… or starts eating healthy. It happens when someone steps out in a BIG way from where they currently are. It’s a pact they make to themselves – never going back to how things WERE.
This is the difference between lighting a match to a candle, or putting a blowtorch to it.
One gives off an aroma. The other gives off an aroma like no one has ever inhaled before in their life.
So if you are thinking that you should start your New Years Resolution. Don’t. Start your own “New Years Revolution.” Want to know how?
Step 1 – Find out who you are. THEN build your life around that.
Step 2 – Stop making promises you can’t keep. In California we call them “flakes” – and we get pretty upset at these types of people.
Step 3 – Be honest with yourself – If you THINK you can, you probably can. If you THINK you can’t, you probably can’t.
Step 4 – Work harder on yourself than you do on your job.
I know it may not seem like much, but remember… you are used to a “resolution” – NOT a “revolution.” And all it takes is for one person to start.
Whose it going to be?

That’s what I did a year ago. I created a revolution in my life. I got rid of my home and went on the road and I’m still doing it. I live and work while travelling around the owrld. The world is now home and my family, especially my grown-up boys, cannot understand it or get used to it. That’s what ahppens with revolutions.
You know what’s crazy Graham? I’ve never met someone who TRULY exemplifies the one thing I’m talking about in my blog as much as you have. AWESOME! Thanks so much for sharing. I hope people are moved by what you are doing.
Wow, Jared thank you so much. My aim in life is to move people by communicating what’s inside me. Most of all though it’s about being honest about yourself and just being who you are. It has taken me time to get here, but I knoe it’s all been worth it.
Bravo. I was about to launch a response in Linkedin & decided to read what’s on your site. Yes, revolution is a better action word. I am also interested in business process improvement & have the reputation of bringing about revolutions. If your convictions do not turn into commitments, then nothing changes – speech/act is the science of basically say what you mean, mean what you say & deliver on it.
I have spent the last year digging very deep inside of myself as well having lost a lot of my own self over the years. I call it H2.0 (Heidi 2.0) & will act with authenticity. I can’t be anyone else but me, nor do I want to.
Happy New Year Revolution!
Awesome Heid! “Say what you mean, mean what you say & deliver on it” says it ALL. Thanks so much for sharing.
Jared,
Good read. To reach that state of revolution you have to be so dissatisfied with your current situation that you desire to change. It’s about being honest with what you can or can’t do as you pointed out in your blog post. That is easier said than done.
Feel free to check out my blog on this topic.
Happy New Year!

Life if filled with self indulgences, if we are the life system towards a self revolving system defined with self affliction, ten e are well defined logical creatures towards a new beginning. Te time table say’s we are only alive for 80 years, but towards a promise fulfilled dream we can start living each day as start of a new way of life,
