We Don’t Pay You to Think

I never lasted at any “job” that required me to think much (as an “entry level” employee of an organization). I know it sounds a bit weird, but I wouldn’t be able to inspire those in my own business if I did. Real meaningful thought requires a lot of work and energy and I have yet to see any meaningful rewards given from businesses to individuals for this.

What is someone to think when they are told “we don’t pay you to think” anyways?

"Nothing Ever Gets Done Around Here"

I remember working at this job where the head of the department screamed, “Nothing ever gets done around here.” I remember thinking to myself, “Probably because no one likes you.”

Then I thought about all of the people in my life that I consider a really good friend, and how I would do anything for them.

I think businesses nowadays should really pay attention to this.

You Are Always Right

My mom always used to say, “I’m always right.” Then I thought about it… Does anyone ever say anything knowing they are 100% wrong?

And by the way, don’t try to DISagree with me (I think you know why). :)

T-Shirts And Jeans

In talking to a friend the other day, I had mentioned that in working “Survival Jobs” to fund my business, the thing that hurt me the most was how I looked.

He seemed shocked.

I said, “You know t-shirts and jeans are more ‘me’ than a shirt and tie, but good luck with trying to rise to the top of the corporate ladder with that.”

“That isn’t where you want to be anyway,” he responded. I said, “I know, I just want to make more money to be able to fund my own business.” “I understand,” my friend said, “but also understand that this dislike for how you are treated by how you look, may ALSO be the fuel that you need to succeed in running your own business, and helping others with that same problem.”
