Am I A Buttered Roll?
A plain buttered roll is so fucking boring! But it’s everywhere. I mean just the other day I was thinking if Saturn cars never made a profit since they’ve been in business… why are they still making them?
It’s a bad fucking idea!
And so what the huge automobile maker does is make an ok car, fill it with ok employees and… I say just ditch it if it isn’t working, then pay your current employees a lot more to NOT be a stale and soggy buttered roll.
Instead their cars float down the road with all the other ones – blending in the background of the sea of cars already out there.
And so… to liven up your day, I wanted to give you a list of some people I crossed paths with whose business and personal life are anything but a stale and soggy buttered roll.
Here’s just a few:
*Michael Nobbs - is a great inspiring and unique artist who made the vision of my little header on here come true… not to mention helping me discover a new tea called, “Assam Tea.” He’s also got a cool free eBook that inspired me to start sketching again – a great thing to do while you’re listening to another boring meeting, on break or just need to break away from the monotony of the work day.
*Joshua and Audrey Woollen – I met Joshua when I first lived in Venice, CA back in 2001. Joshua was there when I lived in my first piece of shit apartment when I was going on commercial auditions – we were with the same talent agency and met on the first thing I booked (a “Josheph Arthur” video shoot). And so anywho, Joshua was there for me in some crazy times and he and his wife Audrey have the coolest store on Abbott Kinney Blvd. that has the best most unique and kick as stationary you’ll find anywhere on the planet.
*Johnny B. Truant – is a guy who sounds like he’ll kick your ass… when in reality he has some REALLY kick ass products. He is also responsible for helping me to uncover the myths of how to set up this whole crazy blog deal in his program called, “Zero To Business.” Get it!
*Jonathan Mead – is another guy you heard me talk about (and just came out with a kick ass new program called, “The Dojo” – see the right of your screen). Jonathan is someone that I crossed paths with when living outside of Pasadena, CA. Here is the funny thing, he literally used to work at the same ridiculously boring company (Kaiser Permanente) – working in the building right behind me before my lame ass sorta boss called up my temp agency after a year and a half of working there to say, “Oh you don’t need to report to work anymore.” The funny thing is… my former boss is still at that miserable fucking job, not me. :)
*Matthew Goldfarb - is a kick ass Copywriter who lives in my hometown of Brooklyn, NY. Matthew is not only cool because he and his girlfriend buy my music, he is a super talented Copywriter and also has a super cool little dog named, “Gola.” Seriously… everyone knows you can have a great web site, BUT without the know how of a GREAT Copywriter – it’s pretty useless (and Matthew and his clients knows this more than anyone).
*Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson – are guys who seems pretty cool and have a NY Times Best Selling book called, “Rework” that changed my life. :)
*Matt Cheuvront – is an individual (getting tired of using “guy”) who runs, “Life Without Pants,” and does; blogging, website design, speaking, etc. Matt is in the process of getting married, running a business and blogging… but I still think he would like it if you said, “hello” to him and hired him for some things. He really has some cool unique stuff and is a bit of a mixed nut – kinda like me (which means he’s super human cooler than cool).
*Djibril N’Doye – is just a really talented artist whose entire family I’ve come to know over the past few years and we’re very kind to me while living in Sierra Madre, CA. Having been over his house many times, and hanging out at local cafe’s with Djibril… we’ve had some great conversations over some of the best Green Tea around. He is honestly, one of the most unique and talented artists I’ve come to meet. I can go on to explain why, but just check out his site and read up on him yourself.
And so hopefully you get the point that you don’t have to be a buttered roll to make your mark in life and do some cool, unique and inspiring stuff (with your business or personal life). Anyone I miss?
